Hello my name is misschris and I have a very large baby.
It does seem silly to talk about supply issues when you take a look at little Charlotte, not so much a roly-poly baby but a BIG baby. I wouldn´t dream of stopping breastfeeding but keeping her satisfied and her tummy filled is a full time job and it´s making me very tired. It seems she is always hungry.
Lately I have lost enough weight to see what people mean when they say breastfeeding takes off the poundage. It didn´t happen like that with Little S, a slightly smaller baby. I kept all of my weight and it took over eight months to get to where I am now with him. But with Charlotte I´ve lost 3 kilos (over 6 pounds) these past two weeks alone. I can now wear my "sort of" skinny jeans. I am craving carbs like mad after each session. I clearly have a Maneater. Or I suppose a WO-Maneater. (I can certainly identify with the song...oh and please click on the link because you can see some totally rad 80´s dance moves in that video).
Yes she is thriving and yes she looks healthy, oh my god does she look healthy. I have no idea why the idea of low supply idea has been bothering me so much. I guess the thought of not being able to keep up with her desire to eat has me frightened because she has a ravenous appetite and I´m the one she turns to when she wants to satisfy it,--a scary thought.

I was going to say...she doesn't look hungry to me! Is she going through a growth spurt? I remember days when A was basically attached to the boob 24/7 and I freaked thinking I had low supply. She was just growing.
I wish the weight loss thing had worked for me. It did initially, but I was so dang hungry all the time, I didn't lose anything overall for a long time and I'm still holding onto some fat. I'm convinced it's my body's way of responding to the nursing monster - it wants to make sure it has enough reserves :(
Hi Chris,
I totally understand where you are coming from with the BIG baby. Brody is a very BIG baby too. :O) He is over the 97th percentile for weight, height & head circumference. I don't know how I got such a large baby?? LOL. I think had I been able to b/feed him, I'm not sure if I could have kept up with him! He eats aprox. 42 ounces of formula a day. A normal amount for him is 7 ounces in a sitting.
I think its funny that both our 2nd children ended up so BIG. But I figure there is just more of them to love! I love Brody's BIG chunky thighs & tummy. :O)
I still follow your blogs chris. Take care,
Arwen
Yay! I am so happy for you!
This post made me a little misty eyed. It reminded me a lot of Jack, who was born normal sized, but then grew like your Charlotte. It is such an incredibly satisfying feeling to nourish your baby like that and watch her grow, happy and healthy.
I too had a rolypoly girl and a not so big boys and supply issues with the girl.
I took fenugreek which made me smell like a curryhouse but really did the trick!
Oh congrats! Lovely, lovely baby girl!
I wondered how you were and hunted through links to get to this blog from A Fisherman's House. So happy for you.
How is Little S? (I almost typed Baby and then though, ooh! He's a big brother now.:)
Hey jeannie I´m so pleased you checked in! Going over to see what you guys have been up to right now...
